My Story
My Childhood
From a very young age, I have always liked changing things around me. I would often try to modify things, make small changes, or see if I could make something work differently. I never really thought much about it at the time. It was simply something I enjoyed doing. I liked being curious, trying things out, and figuring things out in my own way. I was always interested in exploring and experimenting rather than simply accepting things as they were.
The Turning Point — A Change in Mindset
The end of Grade 10 became an important turning point in my life. I began to understand that passion alone is not always enough. If I wanted to turn my interests into a career, become an engineer, and build the kind of future I imagined for myself, I needed to develop the knowledge and skills to support those ambitions.
This was the moment when I became more serious about my education. I realised that studying was not just about getting good grades or passing exams. It was a tool that could give me the knowledge, opportunities, and foundation I needed to achieve the things I wanted to do in life.
My School Years
During most of my school life, I was not very interested in studies. Until around Grade 10, academics were not something I took as seriously as I should have. I was more interested in the things I enjoyed doing, whether that was spending time with friends, playing sports, or exploring my own interests.
At that stage, I was not really thinking too far ahead or worrying about what I wanted my future to look like. I was mostly living in the present and enjoying life as it came. Looking back, I realise that I had not yet understood how important the decisions I was making at that time would be for my future.
A Change in Me
After that, I started putting more effort into my studies and taking my future more seriously. It was not an overnight change, and I am still learning how to improve myself every day, but I began to understand the value of discipline, consistency, and hard work.
At the same time, I started paying more attention to the things I had always enjoyed. The curiosity I had as a child, my interest in modifying things, creating things, and trying new ideas slowly started becoming clearer to me. I began to realise that these were not just random interests. They were things that had been a part of me for a long time. I just needed time to understand them better and find a direction for them.
A New Chapter
Moving to Bhopal and becoming a full-time boarder at Shrewsbury International School India became another important part of my journey. Being away from home and having to manage many things on my own taught me to become more independent and responsible.
It pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and experience things that I might not have experienced otherwise. School became more than just a place where I studied. It became a place where I could explore different interests, meet new people, take on responsibilities, and learn more about myself.
Over time, I have had the opportunity to take part in sports, leadership roles, projects, internships, and other experiences that have helped me grow. Winning the Salopian Cup is one of the memories that stands out to me from my time at school. Being part of a team, working towards something together, and seeing that effort come together in the end was a special experience for me.
Where I Am Today
Today, I am still figuring things out. I have become much more serious about my education and my future, but I also want to make sure I continue enjoying the things that make me curious and excited.
I have learned that everyone develops at their own pace, and sometimes it takes time to understand what really matters to you. I am not someone who has everything figured out, and I do not think I need to. I am still learning, exploring, and trying to understand where I want my life to take me.
When I look back, I think the biggest change in my life was not discovering something completely new. It was realising the importance of the things I already had within me my curiosity, my willingness to try things, and my desire to make things better. I just needed time to understand them and give them a direction.
Looking Ahead
I am proud of how much I have changed since my earlier school years, but I also know that I still have a long way to go. My journey so far has taught me that it is never too late to change your mindset, take yourself seriously, and start working towards something better.
I am still at the beginning of my journey, and I do not know exactly where it will take me. But I know that I want to keep learning, keep improving, and make the most of the opportunities I have.
The curiosity I had as a child is still there. The difference is that now I am slowly learning how to give it a direction.
